It’s not lost on me that I’m writing this online while discussing ways to connect with people in real life. However, for many of us, the internet remains a vital tool to find and connect with like-minded souls. With the shifting landscape of social media (what’s up Meta?), it’s become more important than ever to ensure we’re accessible on emerging platforms while also maintaining spaces we truly own, like this website.
So, where can you connect, chat, and explore witchcraft and the occult with us?
Social media options
- Discord – we have a small server here and it’s quiet, but we’d like to build on this in 2025. Come and join us and give it a boost! https://discord.gg/Xqsz78d3KY
- Facebook – we know, we’ve been here and on Instagram for 10yrs…..but will maintain a space there because a lot of people find us there. We’ll share events and the like here.
- Instagram – See above. Event posts will be shared here.
- Threads – again, another Meta space, and I like it there more than FB or Insta. I post there under Paganfringe intermittently, but it feels like a friendly space.
- TikTok – we’re on TikTok, but not actively sharing a lot there under paganfringe account. WitchTok is an interesting place, and I personally I’ve LOVED it, but as a group thing it’s not something I’ve put alot of energy into. On a personal level, I’m really quite sad that an entire country (USA) will likely be blocked from using it. So many wonderful witchtok creators were able to reach a wider audience from that app and I’ll be sad to see the community that it did create, disappear literally overnight. Folks are scattering to the four winds and setting up camp elsewhere, or returning to other platforms.
- BlueSky – just set up shop here this week, although I’ve had a personal profile there since 2023. Figured if everyone really will depart Meta, I want to be where folks will be gathering. We have minimal content and chatter there so far. I’ll remember to keep returning there to continue conversations.
- YouTube – and good old YT! We have established a YouTube so we can upload Book Circle talks to reach a wider audience if you cannot join us in person in Western Sydney. We’re dedicated to making our presentations accessible. If you just go to our profile page, you won’t find anything public just yet – you’ll need to follow specific links listed here!
- LinkTree – where you will find EVERYTHING and more!
- And this website! I’ll continue to always post event details on our own website so SEO might possibly pick it up when you do a google search. I’ll continue writing about what we do with blog posts as well. More now than ever it’s important to invest time and energy into spaces that you can own or control online.
More importantly, where can you find us IN PERSON?!?! Where can we connect as a community and talk about witchcraft in Western Sydney?
We have settled on the date of our first Book Circle meeting for 2025 which will be on 20th February 2025 at the Cauldron of Wellbeing in Penrith NSW. More info on that event coming soooooooon!
