Across the internet, and especially on Meta, we’re seeing more and more long-standing businesses, creators, and community leaders suddenly removed from its platform (Facebook, Insta and Threads). In many cases, they lose not just their business presence, but devastingly moreso, their ability to communicate with their community.
We’re not a business at all, but we do care deeply about how we connect and ‘speak’ to you, especially about witchcraft and really, this isn’t about a social media strategy. We want to keep spaces for talking about the magickal, not the mundane. That’s our main concern and we don’t want to lose that connection, or the ability to speak in our own authentic voice without the filter of whatever hoops a social media platform wants us to jump through in order for our message to be heard. Yeah, nah.
We’ll remain on Meta for as long as it feels safe and viable. What do I mean by ‘safe’? Well, it’s not always a safe place for our audience and we’re sensitive to that, not just our own viability. At the same time, we’re actively diversifying how we communicate.
Here’s the current thinking around the hierarchy of the approach.
- Our blog/website and email list are our first priority and primary channels. This is where events and updates will be shared first.
- From there, we’ll post to Discord and Bluesky
- followed by Instagram/Threads,
- and then….finally Facebook.
- Events will be hosted and shared on ticketing platforms (we’re on Humanitix and you can follow us there too) and may not even make it to a ‘Facebook event’ because that as a hosting platform is also saturated too.
- Oh and let’s not forget YouTube – class lectures and information will be shared there when we have information to share.
If you want to stay connected, that’s our approach. Please engage in the manner that works for you.
We’d also like to know, where else do you prefer to hear from us? How can we make sure you don’t lose us in the noise of the internet? Or have we got all our bases covered?
